Brown Drake Update - June 6, 2016
The Brown Drake has begun to be a great memory for anglers in 2016. The hatch will continue to linger and be spotty in the Willows, but the show is essentially over. If you have a free evening, it may be worth checking things out until the end of the week, but these trips will be about hunting individual risers, not seeing "The Show."
The Brown Drake is a two year growth cycle. Two years ago we had massive Spinner Falls. The problem was two of the days we had these events, we also had massive hail storms that killed a lot of insects. This may account for the weak nature of this years event. We still saw a lot of bugs and had a lot of fun, but the mind numbing numbers of bugs eluded us.
Last year we did see these massive bug events, so it is safe to assume we will get back to the crazy Drake experiences we expect to see.
Thank You Anglers for being good to one another and continuing to make Silver Creek a relaxed place where everyone feels welcome and part of an awesome fly fishing culture. I also want to thank all of you for your business, and helping us keep our doors open!
Personally, I'm really proud to be a part of the Silver Creek / Picabo community, and you are all part of the reason!
Let's get ready for Green Drakes!
