Guided Waterfowl Hunts:

We invite you to join us in the fall and winter months in the pursuit of Ducks and Geese. Picabo Angler is licensed for guided waterfowl hunting by the State of Idaho. Our hunts on the Purdy Ranch vary from hunting in barley stubble, to alfalfa fields, as well as ponds and portions of Silver Creek within the Ranch.

To book your hunt and for current pricing, please contact John Huber at 208.788.3536 or john@picaboangler.com

Waterfowl hunting on the Purdy Ranch can yield everything from groups of fifty-plus mallards to single, stunt-flying teal burning right through the decoys. The valley is one of the premier goose hunting areas in Southern Idaho as well, so if you enjoy shooting big Canadian geese, our private fields are a good bet to have a great day. Unlike other nearby areas, you'll be hunting private fields and water where birds see very little pressure and your grinning face is the last thing they'll expect as they maple leaf right into the spread with snow covered Pioneer range framing the shot.   Our guides are expert callers and know when and how to call even the most educated of local beaks.

For our spreads, we use Dakota Decoys--some of the most realistic, detailed decoys on the market and also deploy motion decoys as appropriate. Our layout blinds are made by Roger's and are the most downright comfortable field blinds you'll ever use. If it weren't for the action, it wouldn't be hard to catch a nap in these plush, insulated layout blinds. As for dogs, all of our guides have driven duck machines who sit quietly and watch the skies, only to rocket after your quarry once instructed to do so. If you're a fan of well-trained hunting dogs, you'll be in for a real treat.

Hunts are conducted from both sitting blinds as well as the Roger's layout blinds for those times when we need to get into the middle of the fields.

All of our hunts are guided. Hunts are close range shooting over decoys, so no need to shoot large shells and beat yourself up. Waterfowl hunters only need to show up dressed for the occasion with gun and shells. Decoys, blinds, dogs, and the lot are provided for you. Let us put a cup of coffee in your hand and get you in the blind for the morning action. Guided waterfowl hunts are normally about 4 hours, or half the day, or when limits are filled. Upon completion, join us for lunch and a cold beverage while we package your birds.  Many of our clients choose to combine a morning waterfowl hunt with a pheasant hunt in the early afternoon--just ask and we can make that happen.

All hunts are 1 to 4 hunters maximum. Larger groups can be divided into separate hunting parties. Each hunt will be guided. Guides will be shooting on occasion. Guests may bring their own calls and well trained dogs if they like. For the safety of all dogs, the guides will reserve the right to allow or not allow dogs where their actions are deemed unsafe. All hunts include coffee and baked goods in the blinds. All birds will be breasted out and packaged for guests. Picabo Angler can also have waterfowl processed into sausage at an additional charge.
